My reaction to discovering Speechify
From an early learners perspective
I am going to be teaching 1st grade this year and I really appreciated many of the features offered by Read&Write for Chrome:
- I like that it highlights the sentence and current word in different colours allowing students to see their reading in smaller segments.
- I like that it can simplify pages for these early readers as they can easily get lost in the busy pages and pop-ups.
- Creating vocabulary sheets with term/clipart/definition would be helpful as we look at non-fiction reading.
- The note sheets will be helpful when they create their summaries of reading.
- I like that it allows students to select where they would like to read from and that it has a guided reading option.
- The speech to text feature will help give them some 1:1 guidance in creating their own personal writing, particularly for those requiring scribe help.
